Inspiration for Every Occasion

Beautycounter

October 1, 2015 · In: Lifestyle

Your new makeup obsession.

Now, I am no beauty expert. But when it comes to playing with makeup, that I can do for hours. I was recently introduced to beautycounter – a company devoted to progress the beauty market creating products that are made from real non-toxic ingredients. Their mission is to make the world healthier, along with selling products you can trust are safe, putting the truth back into beauty. Amen sisters!

I got to play around with some of the products and fell in love with each and every one of them. Just knowing that what you were putting on your skin was safe and not harmful was enlightening when trying each one. My favorites? I loved the Matifying Skin Finishing Powder, a lightweight, translucent powder that blends invisibly to absorb shine, reduce the appearance of pores and fine lines, and set makeup. Unlike a powder foundation, it’s designed to be worn over your foundation, tinted moisturizer, concealer, or bare skin. In one universal shade that suits all skin tones, the Finishing Powder gives skin a naturally smooth and even finish, leaving behind no white residue.

I also loved the Tinted Skin Foundation. I am not a huge advocate for liquid foundation (a major fear of breaking out!), but this foundation was so lightweight, goes on seamlessly and blends effortlessly to cover imperfections and even skin tone. It contains hyaluronic acid, a natural moisture magnet, promotes smoother-looking skin and reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

My last favorite product I got to try was the Lip Sheer in Plum! Talk about the perfect fall color. And it lasts all day long (I even ended up wearing it to the gym and it was still on after my workout!). Aside from the flattering shade, it is moisturizing and conditioning giving your lips a luxurious feel.

Something I also loved about their products were the makeup brushes. So soothing to touch to your skin and they applied the makeup so perfectly.

What to know about makeup brushes:

•Most cosmetic brushes on the market are commonly made from squirrel, mink, sable pony or camel hair; our brushes are made only from taklon bristles (animal hair-free). Taklon is a synthetic polyester-derived fiber that is soft, smooth and void of any proteins or allergens.

•Taklon: is a safe alternative for people who have allergies to animal hair; is easy to clean and does not hold onto bacteria; does not shed (the bristles go all the way to the end of the handle so no shedding!); works with both cream and powder makeup products

In the know about beautycounter:

Decades of studies indicate that serious health issues (including, but not limited to asthma, learning disabilities, cancer and infertility) are on the rise, and due in some part to our ongoing exposure to toxic chemicals—whether it’s in the shower, on our commute, while we eat lunch at a local restaurant, or when we clean our kitchens at home. There are more than 80,000 chemicals on the market today. Many don’t have any safety data. This is particularly true of those used in the skin care and beauty industry.

Only about 10% of the 10,000 chemicals commonly found in personal care products have safety data.

What’s worse is the Food and Drug Administration (the agency that regulates cosmetics) allows companies to use chemicals known to be extremely harmful (lead, formaldehyde, and phthalates) in the products we put on our bodies and on our kids every single day, day after day.
