A Simple Spring Table Setting

March 27, 2019 · In: Parties, Spring Entertaining

Spring is finally here!

I am so excited to (hopefully) see the weather get a little warmer and there be less snow on the ground here in Denver. The barista at the coffee shop informed me that it would highly be unlikely… but I still have hope! It’s a beautiful week so far! I am also SO excited to start dining al fresco in our new backyard! It was such a struggle trying to pull together outdoor posts in our old house but now that we have this beautiful big backyard (she still needs a lot of work…) I cannot wait to style more for you all outside! The weather though is not quite there so this simple spring table setting is set inside our dining room! This is so easy to pull together with a few colorful additions to the table.

One of my top 5 tips for hostessing is using single blooms you can easily find at the grocery store. It’s such an easy, cost effective way to pull together a beautiful table setting. You can either put them all into one vase or put out an odd number of vases down the center of your table with the blooms in them. Our Whole Foods has had these butterfly ranunculus and I can’t get enough of them! Additionally have candles (like these from Fete Home) around the flowers to add more volume to the center of the table.

Another tip to pull together this simple spring table setting is adding a pop of color in the napkin! Ya’ll know that I am all about a white plate. So, the addition of a colorful napkin like this one from Fete Home is such an easy way to add a theme to your table setting!

Lastly, one thing we have not talked about yet is how to properly set your table! Don’t worry, I get confused still to this day especially with glassware. If you keep in mind these few simple things, you’ll have the perfect setting! First, fork always on the left of a plate! Your knife should never hang out with your fork, so you know it will always go on the opposite side. The spoon and the knife are best friends – so they go together. Set your flatware of how the meal will go. If there is a salad or a soup, the salad fork and spoon go on the outside of the dinner fork and your knife. Last, for glasses there are a few ways I’ve found you can set them but I like to follow the curve of the setting. Water glasses always go on top and the wine glass follows just above the knife and spoon on the right side of the plate! Message me if you have any questions :) and happy spring!
