How to Decorate a Neutral Christmas Tree

December 12, 2024 · In: Lifestyle

My proud and joy of our Christmas decor 😉🎄

The great debate, real or faux Christmas trees, pre-lit or non lit… I think I solved it this year. In my personal preference, a non-lit faux Christmas tree. Here is why. Invest in a beauty like this 9ft Royal Fir Slim Christmas tree – isn’t she gorgeous?! Lights ALWAYS go out on these trees and they’re impossible to try to fix. I just threw aways two of our pre-lit trees last year, such a waste. So my logic was, go with the non-lit and buy a bunch of lights. It’s a tedious task but this why I will have this tree forever and can replace the lights through the years. I went with these ones – I love that the bulbs are smaller so they give off a softer light. However, because I have 10 strands on my tree it made the tree SO bright which TBH is SO fun! It lights up the whole house at night!

Yes, real trees can be more eco friendly – however they make such a mess and they need to be tended to. So, if you’re like me who travels usually for Christmas I don’t want to come home to a dead tree and pine needles all over my floor. Also, my logic in investing in a nice faux tree is I will have this tree for many, many years!

So, let’s talk about how to decorate a neutral Christmas tree. If you saw in the last post my holiday decor theme in my home is greens, white, black, gold and silver – I love staying consistent with the decor you will see throughout my home. So when it came to my tree I stuck with the same colors and textures you will see throughout. Remember the feather Christmas tree on my entry table? You will spy feather white ornaments on the tree! Same goes with the boucle tree on my coffee table, boucle ball ornaments on the tree.

To decorate this neutral Christmas tree, I chose large white texture ball ornaments to give the tree a good pop! Then mixed in a collection of woodland characters we have been collecting over the years (all in neutral colors). Get an assortment of matching ornaments (I suggest 3-4) then mix in your random ornaments throughout! This allows of consistently with your color palette and lots of texture throughout.

I found these adorable snow globe ornaments however didn’t like that they came with a red hanging string so switched out the string for a black ribbon. An easy solution to stay neutral on your tree. Also ya’ll, how stinking cute is this pickleball ornament!!

Lastly, to add another texture that ties in the whole theme throughout the tree and house I went with this furry tree skirt!
