Low Stress Entertaining

November 21, 2019 · In: Thanksgiving Entertaining

Thanksgiving prep tip #2!

Low stress entertaining, doesn’t that sound nice? I think it truly depends on our personalities and how we are when hosting, but my goal with the blog is it make you a stress free hostess – so lets work on this personality trait together! There are a few things you can do ahead of time to help lower your stress :)

  1. Don’t worry about serving your food piping hot – some dishes can be served at room temperature. Choose one dish that should be hot and let the others rest. Pre warm any serving platters in the oven or warming drawer (if you choose the oven, make sure the dish is oven safe). That helps food stay warm!
  2. Start your thanksgiving prep with an empty dishwasher and empty kitchen trash can – this makes cleanup SO much easier. Also, clean out / reorganize your fridge a few days before (Tuesday is a great day :))
  3. If guests offer to bring something, take them up on it! You don’t have to do EVERYTHING. Have them bring something easy like an appetizer or dessert. It’s one less thing on your plate!
  4. Set the table this weekend so it is one less thing you have to do! Keep your setting simple with these fun printable, a simple centerpiece so you have room on the table for all the food, and add a pop of color by using colorful napkins and glassware!
  5. And, remember that whatever happens, happens. Don’t put so much pressure on yourself to cook the perfect meal. Stick to recipes you know and love, don’t make too many recipes and have fun cooking! Also, accept help! As much as we want to do everything to make the guest experience relaxing, you need to relax too! Plus, its more fun to have friends and family in the kitchen with you! (Just keep the family members that bother you OUT of the kitchen, give them another task like being in charge of the drinks!)
