A Night of Deception with Grey Fox Games

June 13, 2018 · In: Cocktail Hour, Parties

Can you handle, deception?

This post was sponsored by Grey Fox Games, all opinions are my own.

I’ve said this many times lately, but game night is my absolute favorite way to spend an evening with friends! We have played many amazing, fun games that keep you laughing, challenge your skills and are a great way to bring everyone together. My friends at Grey Fox games have an amazing array of different thematic games that are clever and filled with a fun challenge! My husband and I hosted our close friends recently for a game night to play Grey Fox’s game, Deception: Murder in Hong Kong. Set in Hong Kong, this murder mystery game is so much fun and is filled with trickery from each player! When playing a certain game I love to make the whole evening themed to the game we are playing!

To set the scene for A Night of Deception, I chose an array of asian style food to transport each guest to the scene where the game is based. Little bites are the perfect way to go so guests can munch on something easily while playing! I chose pot stickers, sushi rolls and edamame. Don’t forget to set out an empty bowl for the discarded edamame shells. Set everything in the area you are playing so that guests can easily replenish their plate throughout the game. Set the mood with low light and an array of candles! You are solving a murder mystery after all, so it needs to be spooky!

The most important part to game night is the cocktail of course! Since this is a murder mystery game, I chose a “bloody” themed cocktail called The Murderer! It’s an easy sip to throw together and you can make big batches to serve throughout game night! I prefer to make it in a cocktail shaker to serve it cold without ice, however you can serve on ice! And don’t forget to garnish with an orange slice!

The Murderer

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 1⁄2ounces vodka
  • 1 1⁄2ounces peach schnapps
  • 2 ounces triple sec
  • 2 ounces orange juice
  • 3 ounces sparkling water
  • grenadine
  • Orange slices for garnish

DIRECTIONS

  1. Mix alcohols into an ice-filled cocktail shaker.
  2. Add the juice and grenadine, and shake.
  3. Serve in a 10-12 oz. glass topped off with a straw!

Setting up your game night can go a few ways! For this set up I had everything out on the table where we would gather around to play the game. This allowed for my guests to munch on some snacks before we got started. Once the game started, I left out a tray on the table so you could still grab some things. You can also set everything up on your kitchen counter or another table near by so guests can fill their plate and their cocktail easily! Deception’s set up didn’t take up too much room so guests were able to have their plates and drink out on the table without interfering with the game. I put everything out on pedestals and tiers for a pretty display of the food! Make sure to have napkins, plates and flatware out as well!

I truly loved the game Deception so much! It took a bit to get the hang of it, but once we go going it was so much fun! You have to hold your group accountable for being honest about who the murder is and not peaking. Once you do it makes the game so tricky and filled with laughs! I love that you get to be imaginative about the story line and how the murder happened! I highly recommend this game!
