It’s the last chance to throw a “summer” party! I know it is September but it still feels like summer here in Denver and I am not quite ready to put up my fall decor (post coming soon!). One last summer hoorah is a must this weekend, especially beacuse it is a long weekend! So throw on your bikini and a summer dress and get your friends together for a backyard barbecue or picnic in the park!

For a backyard barbecue to keep things simple have a potluck (I am always a fan of pot lucks). Set out yummy summer foods such as watermelons and a simple appetizer such as chips and guac! Serve a signature good bye summer drink such as basil lemonade (recipe below). This refreshing cocktail is a perfect summer sip. You can also incorpoarte any other summer foods such as grilled corn and peaches and ice cream!

Make your cocktail straws themed by adding papers flags with “au revoir summer” on them. It is so simple to make! Just print off as many as you need on paper, cut out the writing leaving a half an inch on each side. Cut a triangle into one side. Using tape attach each flag onto your straws by taping a portion of the tape onto the straw and folding the paper around the straw. You can also add glitter details to the edge of the traingle for a fun flare!
