What’s in your basket?
Receiving an Easter basket from the Easter bunny is one of my favorite parts of this holiday. I have not spent Easter with my parents in a few years (we always have crazy schedules, mom is in Mexico, dad is playing tennis somewhere) but I know for a fact if I was home with my mom this weekend she would have a basket waiting for me when I woke up. Yes, I am a little old to be receiving things from the Easter bunny, but who can complain about waking up to a basket full of chocolate and little goodies? My mom spoils me!
Whether your child is 23 or 3, or you are giving Easter baskets to friends, boyfriends or husbands, you can’t go wrong with filling the basket with their favorite egg candies and Cadberry chocolates of course. I’m just going to throw it out there, for someone who has the biggest sweet tooth, I know candy. And at Easter time companies make the best candies!
Use these tips for putting together an Easter basket for someone special this weekend:
1. Candy, Candy, Candy! You can’t go wrong with filling individual bags with different candy. Don’t forget about the chocolate eggs!
2. Use a basket that isn’t pastel colored.. Easter can get a little cliché on the color scheme and decor. Try using a simple brown wicker basket. That way you can reuse it for fruit on the counter or a beautiful flower centerpiece for a party.
3. Add a little something extra. Sweet treats are always pleasing, but my favorite parts were the little gifts! Keep it simple (it’s not their birthday). A pretty candle, notebook and nail polish is agreat for a teenage or older girl. For little ones, small toys or a bunny stuffed animal is perfect.
4. This is not meant to break the budget. The dollar store carries baskets and little trinkets that are perfect. Safeway or Wal-Mart always has great prices on candy. And don’t forget to find a basket you can reuse again!
