Tomato season is officially here.
To be honest I am not a tomato expert nor a gardening expert… so I am fully going off of the above comment via Ina Garten’s recent Instagram post about tomato season finally being here. I guess typically it is later in the summer season than you would expect! So, with that information from our queen of hostessing it only made sense to finish out the summer season with a tomato inspired dinner party table setting. I love how chic this table feels without being overly summery. The perfect set up to have in your garden or backyard!
Grab your woven placemats, natural plates, gold accents and a fun red colored napkin (gives it a little bit of an Italian flare to pair with the meal I am about to suggest making)! I filled these small vases with mixed grass I found around our property – try to find greenery at the grocery store if you don’t have fun weeds/grass growing around you like this. And then accented the center of the table with tomatoes!
Alright, let’s talk menu. It’s only fitting that with this tomato table setting you serve all things tomato – especially when they are as fresh as Ina says this time of the year! So here is what I am thinking:
To start: Heirloom Tomato and Burrata Salad
Marinate your sliced heirloom tomatoes in olive oil, balsamic vinegar, minced garlic, salt and pepper for 3 ish minutes. Tear your burrata into a dish then top with the tomatoes and all the juices! Add a little more salt and pepper on top!
Second: Pasta Alla Sorrentina
Main: Grilled Steak with Blistered Tomatoes
Dessert: Tiramisu (something creamy and with espresso sounded nice to end this tomato feast!)
