Makeup 101

I don’t know about you, but I feel like such a newbie when it comes to makeup and beauty products. More so behind the game at least. I went from using simple Herbal Essence shampoo and conditioner to having about 10 different hair products I use every time after I shower. Mainly because I damaged my hair from dying it brown and back to blonde within a two week period.. I do not recommend that. When it comes to make up, I have been using the same routine since high school. It works for me but I have been introduced to a few great additions to my routine. Here are some of my favorite products and tips of how I get glammed every day!

Primer for one – both eyeshadow and face primer – I love them both because it smooths out you face before you add your foundation. Speaking of foundation though, I have never been on that track before. I find it makes my skin break out if I use anything heavy on my face. So if you have delicate skin I don’t recommend using foundation. I have always use Glo Minerals pressed powder, it is easy on your skin and blends really well.

Lipstick is my new found friend! I used to HATE when my mom would try to recommend lipsticks to wear. I was always a gloss or chapstick girl. But in the last two years I have been in love with playing with all the lipsticks at Sephora. I thank my best friend Jenny for that! I still am pretty simple about it, sticking to red, dark purple and pink. But I am not afraid to get a little crazy and try new things. This NARS hot pink gloss is one of my favorite glosses I own,  it goes on so pretty and is such a vibrant and fun shade of pink. You always need a good color red too and this red YSL lipstick is beyond and the perfect shade of red!

I am always for the designer brands of makeups, I really do think that they make great makeup that lasts a long time. But I have found there are things worth spending tons of money on and then there aren’t. I have been using this Loreal Paris Voluminous Mascara for SO long. My mom introduced it to me and it has never let me down. I only buy it with the curved brush though because it applies so easily onto your eyelashes, elongating them and making them look full. Seriously, the best $5 you can spend! I am not a huge eyeshadow person, granted it is because I am terrible at doing it! But I have found this Bobbi Brown eyeshadow palette is perfect for everyday and night time. I use the bottom half for the night to give a little navy smokey eye, and the top half for day when I just need a little extra shimmer on my lids. I also love these new Marc Jacobs eye sticks. perfect for a swip of color to put on your eyes.

Nail polish is my obsession. I absolutly love getting mani pedis and cannot wait to share with you a collaboration I am doing with a local Denver at home mani pedi service, Pretty ‘Round the City! But that is for another day :) My go to colors, like my lipstick choices are red and dark purple. I have been on the search for the perfect bright red that looks great with a tan or goes with holiday wear! Deborah Lippmann my friends has created this perfect red, Don’t Stop Believin’, worth every penny!

{I am not a makeup extpert nor do I think I am! I just love playing around with different products. If you have any tips or anything you find wrong in this article please share. I am always open to opinions!}
