My favorite summertime activity.

You guys know I love a backyard movie night! It’s truly one of my favorite ways to host in the summer. We recently had a movie night for my 30th birthday in my backyard with a few friends. With all that is going on in the world it was the perfect way to get together with friends while still socially distancing ourselves. Hosting an outdoor movie night is SO simple with a few key necessities and of course, a delicious Passion Fruit Spritz cocktail made with Master of Mixes!

The Set Up:
First necessity is a projector. There are tons out there but this is my favorite one – it has bluetooth capabilities so you don’t have to worry about plugging your laptop in. For the screen you can order one (this one is great!) but you can also use a white sheet hanging on a fence or between two trees! In front of where the screen will be, set up chairs with cozy blankets for each guest. Another idea for seating would be laying out blankets and pillows on the ground. Find a cozy spot wherever you plan to be outdoors – for this set up I thought by the lake would be the perfect place, especially to set the scene for our delicious summer cocktail. Nearby where you plan on having seating, set up a little table to be the bar area and for movie snacks (we will get to this later!). I love making sure there’s a little decorative touch with flowers, a pretty tray for the cocktail and fun popcorn containers such as these.

The Cocktail:
This cocktail is something I have been SO excited to post with Master of Mixes. So excited! It’s all we have been drinking this summer… because, well, I had to taste test it first and it immediately became my favorite cocktail for summer. It’s so refreshing, not too sweet and so easy to make. I was inspired by a hotel bar’s signature cocktail in Bolzano, Italy last summer. This cocktail and a summer outdoor movie night are the perfect combination! It has passion fruit, a hint of lime, elderflower to balance the flavors and prosecco to top it off! You must, must try this!! I promise it will be your new favorite summer cocktail.

Passion Fruit Spritz
Serves: 1
INGREDIENTS
- 1 oz Master of Mixes Passion Fruit Daiquiri/Margarita Mixer
- 1 oz fresh squeezed lime juice
- 1 oz Elderflower Liqueur
- Prosecco
- Mint, limes slices for garnish
DIRECTIONS
Fill a cup with ice. Add the first three ingredients, give it a good stir, then top with prosecco to the top. Garnish with a mint leaf and a slice of lime. Enjoy!
I love that Master of Mixes depends on cane sugar, the sweetener of choice for mixologists around the globe, to provide a smooth, clean flavor profile – every time. Their mixes are so flavorful especially the Master of Mixes Passion Fruit Daiquiri/Margarita Mixer. I love that it is so refreshing and has real fruit flavor.

Movie Snacks:
The second best part of an outdoor movie night are movie snacks (…because the cocktail is SO good and is the best part :)). Movie snacks are always a must. For this evening I served popcorn and little chocolate cookies to keep the evening simple. Set up a little table next to where you and your guests are sitting. On the table set out all of the snacks you plan on having by putting candy in little bowls and popcorn in popcorn bags/bowls so guests can easily stock up on their own treats before they go sit down. This also allows them to restock on treats and popcorn themselves throughout the movie so you don’t have to worry! Additionally, set up a little bar area on the same table or nearby so guests are able to get another drink throughout the movie.
