Step into The Mind+ Body Studio.

Our hostess of the month, Lauren Whittier, owner of The Mind + Body Studio opened her doors to invite us into her adorable studio space for a relaxing afternoon. Located in Denver, Colorado The Mind + Body Studio offers female only focused massage therapy {ladies only!}. Lauren specializes in helping women become more resilient during stressful situations by working with the nervous system through deep healing massage. She is passionate about promoting individual health, holistic self-care, positive self-esteem, and healthy body image.

From the moment you walk into her studio you immediately feel a sensation of being relaxed and at peace {leave your issues at the door kind of policy}. If you have a spare moment, enjoy a cup of tea before or after your massage to really feel the zen of the room. Let’s just say I walked away feeling oh so refreshed and rejuvenated {and did not want to leave that adorable room!}.

And can we talk about her studio? Interior design may be her next calling! This small space feels so open and bright with the perfect color scheme of grey and green hues. The best part? All the furniture was made by her and her husbands company Old Wood Soul. Now that, is a woman of many traits!

 Meet Lauren

How did you get started in the massage therapy business?

I’ve always had an overwhelming interest in the “care” industry and I gain an immense amount of gratification through helping others and physically seeing the positive outcomes. Over the years I’ve had a continuous fascination with the body and the relationship between the mind and body; knowing that you cannot treat one without the other. I finally (happily) landed where I am today, opening my own massage studio, after spending several years studying a multitude of disciplines. I recently earned my Graduate Degree in Somatic Psychology – a body-centered psychotherapy – that incorporates psychology while stimulating a body-based awareness to assist in healing the whole person.

When opening the studio I knew that I wanted to create an oasis (as cliché as that sounds) for women to come in and leave their worries at the door.  My goal is to help give permission to take a time out – slow down, rest and recharge.  I value being able to create a space where I can build that genuine personal connection and allow the client to experience a healthy outlet. This can yield great benefits to a person seeking guidance.

What are you favorite hobbies?

I typically unwind by taking slow walks with my husband and our 12-year-old rescue pup. One of our favorite hobbies is being in the woods – whether it’s hiking, 4-wheeling, camping, road tripping – I’m not too picky!

Favorite place to eat in Denver?

My husband and I are currently obsessed with the roof deck at The Kitchen Next Door – my mouth waters for their fried cookie dough bites and margaritas!

Work Uniform?

I live in leggings and yoga pants! Whether I’m at the studio or lounging on the weekend that is definitely my go-to attire!

If you could have lunch with anyone woman, who would it be?

My nana (father’s mother) – she was truly a woman ahead of her time. She passed away when I was in my early 20’s and if I could have lunch with her and ask her questions from my perspective, now in my 30’s, I’m sure I would walk away feeling uplifted. She knew the benefits that alternative therapies can have on the body and employed several herself when she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in her 30’s. I never fully appreciated this approach until I was mature enough to realize how lucky I was to have open-minded elders. I give my Nana credit for instilling in me the gift of finding happiness and healthiness in following non-traditional methods.
