Inspiration for Every Occasion

A Lakeside Bridal Shower

August 21, 2019 · In: Parties, The Every Bride

The most perfect, girly shower by the lake in Montana!

Earlier this month I had the honor of hosting a bridal shower for my very best friend during her wedding weekend. Most of her wedding guests were traveling from Canada as well as the US, so getting all of her close women in her life together the Friday before the wedding to celebrate our sweet bride was the perfect way to kick off the wedding weekend! Jenny loves the color purple so I wanted to incorporate that into the table design while making it chic, cool and girly! On the menu by Bravo! Catering were BLT sliders (SO amazing!) And a delicious summer butter lettuce salad. We sat lakeside at my family’s property to enjoy lunch under umbrellas. It was a truly magical afternoon – despite how hot it was haha. Luckily we had umbrellas sitting over areas of the table to shade guests!

To start the luncheon off, we had a spread of light appetizers such as salmon in endive boats and fruit skewers along with a pour your own drink station. I love the bar menu my friends at Lucky Onion made for this! When hosting a “pour your own” drink station, make sure to have all the wine in a bucket with ice in addition to non alcoholic beverages such as sparkling water. I displayed lemonade and iced tea in drink dispensers along side this gorgeous ice bucket from Nice Bucket filled with ice for guests to easily access ice for their beverages. The theme of the party was “The Summer of Jenny” (an ongoing theme this summer :)), so we had custom drink stirrers and cocktail napkins with this staying from For Your Party (I highly recommend their site for any custom wedding, bridal shower or party goods!).

The table was set with this gorgeous velvet rose colored table cloth from La Tavola Fine Linen along with purple linen napkins. Copper chairs from The Party Store lined the long table which allowed for everyone to have a more intimate luncheon. I chose black plates accented with copper flatware from Empress Tent Events which perfectly complimented the pink and purple glassware. I kept the menu design (by Lucky Onion) simple and modern to compliment the color pallet on the table. Mum’s Flowers put together the coolest, most gorgeous bud vase arrangements on the table to tie everything together. Along with the flowers I set out a mix of natural and pink colored taper candles from Mole Hollow Candles. Since it was such a warm summer day in order to keep wine bottles on the table cooled I bought these copper wine holders to chill the table wine. This allowed for the guests to refresh their glass through lunch. My most favorite detail of the luncheon were the cocktail tables on the deck by the appetizer station – we used lucite cocktail tables and had a flower display by Mum’s Flowers underneath! It turned out SO amazing – they killed it!

For the invites Lucky Onion and I designed these gorgeous terrazzo themed invitations that I based the whole theme off of!

Hosting this event alone took a lot of patience and extra helping hands (thank you to my two amazing best friends!). The biggest learning lesson from hosting a shower this size is give yourself extra time to set up (I wish I had one extra hour from the time the florist finished to when guests arrived), delegate as much as possible, and prepare for weather! It ended up being an extra hot day and I wish I had a few more umbrellas to shade the table – but just a great learning lesson that you can never be too prepared!
