A favorite recent home project!
If you have been following along this past year you saw we re furnished a bedroom in our home in Montana. This was such a fun project to do because boy, the furniture in this room was VERY outdated and more of a hodgepodge of randomness. Plus, this large room housed a queen sized bed which always drove me crazy! After sleeping in a king sized bed for the past 10 years with Jeremy it’s really hard to go back to sharing less space with that man… we are also very tall people!
First things first when it came to designing this space I really kept in mind pieces that were budget friendly and wouldn’t mind ending up in the dump in 20 years… yes I said it. Furniture style is ever evolving and this design might be an outdated hodgepodge down the road. My motto is to invest in the big pieces such as mattresses, a couch, dining table and let the other pieces be something replaceable down the road.
My design inspiration for this room was mountain cozy chic vibes! Think Amber Interiors and Studio McGee! I wanted the room to be somewhere guests felt comfortable to retreat to at the end of the day, cozy to wake up in the morning and a peaceful space to lounge in during the day if they need to recharge. Below, you will find my design board – my first step to putting my ideas together.

Next steps after finalizing the design was purchasing all of the pieces and taking the current furniture all to the dump. Yup, we went to the dump. Listen, I tried all the re-sale outlets to sell these pieces but no on wanted any. I believe one consignment shop told me these pieces were all, “been there, done that”. So to the dump they went. I am truly obsessed with how this room came together. And, having stayed here over Christmas I can attest that I nailed the feel I was going for.

This bench is one of my favorite pieces in the room! We picked it up locally at Wrights Furniture, but I tagged a similar piece in the shop area below.
