If you haven’t tried playing pickleball I am going to be honest with you, you are missing out.
It’s one of those games that is SO easy to pick up and/or teach other people. You laugh, you have fun with your friends and you feel great after playing! While it can be a very competitive sport it can also be very mellow and more of a social game. One of our favorite things to do in the summer time is attend our clubs weekly Friday pickleball social. You BYOB, play a mix of different games and get to socialize with new people. So, when it came to hosting my birthday party this year I wanted to show my friends how it can be a fun social game by hosting a pickleball birthday party.
This was SUCH a fun birthday party to host not only being my favorite activity to play but also a fun way to gather a bunch of friends at our club for my own little birthday social pickleball hour!
When it came to the details I had too much fun. I came up with a personalized logo to put on cups and koozies that said “Katy’s Pickleball Social Club”. We had a bucket filled with bright pink pickleball balls, extra racquets and a station where guests could lather up sunscreen and stash up on Wipeys wipes! For the food and booze area I had coolers filled with beers and seltzers, plus waters and bubbly waters. In addition, all the fixings to make yourself an aperol spritz (my favorite summer cocktail), pour yourself a rosé or a spicy margarita from a pre batched mix! For the food I had fun working with a local caterer, Biscuits and Berries, on some delicious bites to munch on in between games.
How CUTE is this bar sign I had made! All of my favorite cocktails! I fully plan to whip this out again at my next pickleball party!
One of my favorite details were these circle name cards I had custom made from a lady on Etsy! They initially were intended to go around wine stems but I thought they would make such cute drink tags for the cups we had out for guests to pour their own drinks.
Following the 3 hours of pickleball festivities I invited my guests to join us back at The Golden Tree House for a birthday dinner party! On the menu was a spread of bbq food – my favorite cuisine! Shredded meats, potato salad, a strawberry and goat cheese salad and of course queso. Though I absolutely love cooking for guests, I highly recommend hiring a caterer for a party like this! It made the transitions so easy and I didn’t have to worry about anything in the kitchen so I could focus on enjoying myself, drinking my 4th aperol spritz of the day and hanging out with my guests!
For the table setting as it goes with all of my other birthday parties you have seen here, I wanted it to be bright, colorful and fun for summer. The flowers are from The Perfect Petal – one of my favorite florists in Denver! Though purple isn’t my go to – I chose one of their designer choice options and this was the closest to getting pink in there! But I really love how it tuned out. The table setting details were fun to put together because I love any excuse to set out my pink plates and glassware! I got these bright pink napkins to add to my stash to add a bright pink flare to the muted tone of the plates. I tied pink ribbon around the napkins to give it a girly touch. And lastly accented the table with gold flatware! This was also the largest table we have ever had on our deck (12 people) and I am obsessed with how gorgeous it turned out!
