Requested by my girlfriends…
We were wrapping up happy hour a few weeks ago and my girlfriends got on this idea to do a “spooky” halloween dinner party. I think it was more of a joking matter on the theme since we were heading into the “spooky” season, but I decided to run with it! I love any reason for a themed dinner party. Putting the table setting together was so much fun. I was given 50 of these battery powered candles and I knew they would be the perfect touch to the table setting. A fun spider web table cloth, vampire teeth as a napkin ring and skull placemats all came together to make one spooky dinner party.
DECOR:
As mentioned, the decor was so fun to put together for this spooky halloween dinner party. I had this spider webbed table cloth that I laid down first. Then added these skull paper placemats to each spot along with white plates, gold silverware and a mix of 1920s looking water/wine glasses. I love these gauze napkins that kind of give off a Mummy vibe! For the centerpiece I placed out an array of candles and battery power candles along with bud vases filled with autumn colored flowers to tie in the centerpiece bouquet. You will recognize the centerpiece from my fall table setting – I pulled out the purple and pink flowers and added more autumn colors to it. Love a reusing moment!
Over in the bar area you will recognize a familiar face, Brian! He finally got to appear in the Tree House serving up cocktails, tequila shots and lots and lots of wine.
ON THE MENU:
I think because of day of the dead I always think of Mexican food when it comes to a halloween party. I’ve also been stuck on hosting a sushi party (which I hope to do in 2024 and share with y’all!) so with the two themes in mind I decided to do a Mexican asian infusion menu. I made pork carnitas fried rice, asian marinated steak (this marinade was INCREDIBLE!) and a street corn salad. For appetizers I went simple with chips and salsa then made these cute little shrimp sushi cups I’ve seen all over Pinterest!
