Hosting A Game Night

March 7, 2018 · In: Cocktail Hour, Parties, Recipes

One of my all time favorite ways to spend a Friday night!

This post was sponsored by Angie’s BOOMCHICKAPOP, all options are my own.

My husband and I recently have been obsessed with playing board games. We were in Montana for a weekend getaway and opted out of our usual Netflix binge watching session for a game of Monopoly with my brother. I don’t know the last time you have played Monopoly, it lasts a really long time but is so much fun! This sparked our love for hosting game nights with our friends back in Denver! It’s a simple party to host and the perfect way to spend a Friday evening!

The key to hosting a game night is having an array of different games. Monopoly can get very involved and once the first one of two people are out they can be sitting on the sidelines for awhile. So, having backup games to play once a game has run its course is a must! Some of my personal favorite games include Rumikub, Exploding Kittens, Trouble and Jenga! It’s so fun bringing out those old school games we played when we were kids! Start of your evening with one of these simpler games to play through a few times, then if your crowd is feeling up for it, end your night with some Monopoly! You can also keep a scoreboard for the winner of each game and tally up their wins at the end of the night to give them a prize for a little extra game challenge!

More importantly, for a successful game night snacks and cocktails are a must! Angie’s BOOMCHICKAPOP is the perfect snack to serve at a game night! Their array of flavors give a great variety of snacks at any party! I especially love their White Cheddar popcorn and Real Butter flavors! Have a selection of Angie’s BOOMCHICKAPOP out in a spread along with other snacks such as my personal favorite, cheeses and cured meats. Angie’s BOOMCHICKAPOP popcorn is an everyday, better-for-you snack with whole grain that is hugely flavorful with real, simple ingredients – nothing fake! Make sure to have bowls or popcorn cups out for guests to refill throughout the evening. The perfect pairing to this popcorn feast at game night? A Barcelona cocktail! This simple cocktail is not too sweet and the perfect game night cocktail to serve! Get the recipe below!

Barcelona Cocktail

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 part vodka or gin
  • 1/2 cup grapefruit juice
  • Club Soda
  • Thyme (for garnish)

DIRECTIONS

Over ice, add the vodka, grapefruit juice and top with club soda. Give it a stir! Top with Thyme and serve!

Lastly, create a little ambiance and coziness for your game night! Set everything up around your coffee table or on your dining room table. Have blankets and pillows nearby so your guests can completely get comfortable and settle in for the evening. Make sure to have easy access to Angie’s BOOMCHICKAPOP as well as refills on their cocktails! You can easily make a pitcher of this cocktail and keep fresh in your fridge. Always make sure to have water bottles, non-alcoholic beverages as well as wine and beer as other options for guests too! If a game gets too competitive and your crowd gets a little heated, make it known it’s house rules and you all are moving on to the next game. Bottom line, have fun with it! Board games are such a great way to host your next party, especially a party with Angie’s BOOMCHICKAPOP!
