Holiday Neighbor Gifts

There is no better feeling than gift giving!

I love giving! I really do. I think I go a little over board during the holidays, but this girl over her LOVES christmas. I know there is so much more than giving gifts during the holidays, so simple getsures are always the best way to make someone smile. Paying it forward people! Though these are still something you have to spend money on, I love the gesture of something home made! The first year I went to my boyfriends during the holidays I just brought his family banana bread from one on my mothers recipes. It was gone the first night we were there! I came across these Meri Meri canning kits and thought giving something home made was the perfect gift to give our neighbors! I filled one with home made hot chocolate and one with mini home made cookies. You can also do pickled items or jams!

HOME MADE HOT CHOCOLATE

Ingredients:

  • 3 1/2 cups sugar
  • 2 1/4 cups cocoa
  • 1 tablespoon table salt
  • Whole milk for serving

Directions:

  1. In a large bowl, combine sugar, cocoa, and salt, and whisk to combine well. Store the mixture in an airtight container.
  2. For individual servings, pour 1 cup whole milk into a microwave-safe mug, and microwave on high just until hot. Add 2 tablespoons of cocoa mix, and stir to dissolve. For a larger batch of cocoa, warm the milk in a saucepan set over medium-low heat, taking care not to let the milk boil; as it warms, stir in 2 tablespoons of mix for each cup of milk.
