Some of you may be wondering what Kaitlin (that’s me!) of The Every Hostess actually does for work. Well, my friends I am finally sharing the secrets behind me! I started this blog three years ago in the hopes it would turn into an online shop to sell party supplies or turn into a party planning company. The blog took off more than I thought it would so I decided to focus on blogging about parties rather than actually throwing them. Though working on the blog does take up majority of the hours of my week I didn’t want to let go of the other work I also did.

If you haven’t figured it out, I love event planning. After college I had four different internships in basically every realm of the fashion industry from retail to buying, to visual display to writing for fashion magazines and even designing clothes. In the end my favorite part of everything was putting on events! So, I found my beloved Jenny, a freelance event producer in Denver who brought me onto her team as her intern and four years later we are now partners. I absolutely love the event producing that we do, it’s much larger scale, more corporate events, but the thrill and stress of it all is so much fun. Another little fun fact is I have been working towards my MBA at the University of Denver. These past four years have been tough diving back into school when all my friends around me are able to come home from their jobs and not have homework. So I have been seriously taking my time at this, taking a few classes here and there.

SO, now that you know my story I wanted to take you on a tour of my in home office. The blog, event producing and school all have allowed me to be able to work from home which has its pros and cons.

Con #1 being I am SUCH a procrastinator. I am actually surprising myself I am working on this rather than at the gym, running errands or catching up on last nights TV shows! The temptation to do other things rather than sit at the computer is very difficult. But I am trying some new methods that seem to be helping!

Pro #1 would be the freedom of my schedule. It is so nice to be able to go to the gym every day to my favorite classes, being able to be flexible to schedule meetings, and most importantly go on trips whenever! I love traveling, so that has been my number one thing when having a job is to be able to also travel when I please.

Con #2 is being alone a lot. Don’t get me wrong, I love love my alone time! I get more things done when I am not distracted by something else. However, I do get lonely! It’s nice having someone to bounce ideas off of or go to lunch with! That being said, The Every Hostess has an exciting announcement soon about expanding the team!

Pro #2 is Winston! If you haven’t figured it out from my Instagram we have a little puppy named Winston. He is a year and a half and though he is a “big boy” I still love being able to be at home with him every day. I am also convicted he is in his terrible twos right now, he has been getting into everything! So I am glad to be able to be home to keep an eye on him.

My office is my favorite space in our house. It is so cozy and the only girly room in the house! When moving in with Jeremy I had to make some compromises on allowing a mix of masculine and feminine in the way we decorate. Not going to lie, I think the masculine has taken over! However, I have been adding a few touches of feminine throughout the house lately, my favorite being this PUCCI book.  Something I don’t advertise a lot is that I LOVE pink! I wish you could have seen my room at my parents house or my room in college! It’s funny looking back how different my interior style has evolved, I think I owe that to Jeremy though. I likely would be living in a shabby chic little cottage right now! When decorating the office I wanted to add a few pink touches, not going over board. You will notice it in the artwork and my office supplies.

One of my favorite new additions to the office is my party supplies shelf! All of this stuff was in boxes in the corner and I was forgetting about what all I had. So it is great having everything on display, not only as cute decor in the office, but also for easy access to everything when I head to a shoot! Another favorite feature in my office is the 1980’s Vogue magazine I found in my grandmothers house. She passed away a few years ago but she is still my fashion inspiration!

I hope you enjoyed this home office tour! Comment below if there is any other interior spaces, decor ideas, etc. that you would like to see!

Where’s all the paper? You know….the bills, receipts, lists of things to do, sticky notes, and files? I can’t keep up with it all in my home office! Yours is absolutely lovely!
